Fort Sumter Nat. Monument
Located in historic Charleston, South Carolina. On April 12th and 13th in 1861 Fort Sumter was
 the site of the first engagement of the Civil War. On April 13th the Union surrendered after 34 hours of battle. From 1863 to 1865 the Confederates held Fort Sumter. A tour boat takes you to the fort for a one hour tour.
